Create a fabric name tag to wear to an in-person event – meeting, class, or convention. It’s a great way to show off your style and skills while letting everyone know who you are. Name tags can be any size or shape. Just remember that your name should be legible from several feet away.
One of the more popular choices is a pieced block with an embroidered name, like Dorothy’s example below. This option works well if you have a longer name. Embroidery can be done either by hand or machine (if your machine has this function). Click the link below for a free quilted name tag pattern.

Another option is to applique your name. Beth made hers using her Cricut. Other members used freezer paper to adhere their handwritten name onto fabric, then cut out their name and appliqued it to their name tag. Click the link below for a tutorial on appliqueing with freezer paper.

My personal favorite is to foundation paper piece (FPP) your name. This is challenging if you have a longer name. It also requires a pattern for the letters. Here are some resources for FPP alphabet patterns as well as some information on resizing FPP blocks.

Finally, you can piece your name, either improvisationally like Diane did, or by finding a pattern such as those listed below.
