COMMUNITY OUTREACH

SEWING BEE

Bee is derived from the Old English bēn meaning “a prayer, a favor.” By the late eighteenth century, bee had become commonly associated with the British dialect form, been or bean, referring to the joining of neighbors to work on a single activity to help a neighbor in need: sewing bee, quilting bee, etc. (dictionary.com)

Get together with your friends to piece a beautiful quilt that will go to QuiltCon 2025!

Join in a sewing bee with other guild members to work on the community outreach challenge quilt or come to be social and work on your own project. We will be providing material, pre-cut and ready to sew, for the community outreach quilt. Come and make one section or several.

Please bring:

  • Sewing machine
  • Thread  (blue or dark colored)
  • Lunch, or use a local restaurant in the area
  • A project or two of your own, in case we finish the group quilt early
