SeaMQG currently offers three retreats each year: Spring Retreat at Camp Huston, Summer Retreat at Rainbow Lodge, and a Fall Day Retreat at Quilting Mayhem. Every retreat has its own personality, and there’s truly something for everyone!

All members are welcome. Retreats are one of the best ways to meet fellow amazing Seattle Modern Quilters, make new friends, find inspiration and enjoy dedicated sewing time with people who love quilting.

Retreats are extremely popular and tend to sell out fast, so check the event listing for specifics and mark your calendar for registration dates! Registration typically opens 10–12 weeks before the retreat begins. Scholarships are available to assist with financial accessibility.

Retreats rely on volunteers to help welcome attendees, run activities, bring in snacks and assist with setup/teardown. Visit the volunteer page to learn more!

What should I bring to retreat?

Besides yourself, your personal essentials and sewing supplies, think of retreat packing as setting yourself up for maximum creativity and minimum stress. Double check each retreat’s packing list for specifics.

Bring projects that make you excited, not stressed. Retreat energy can be wonderfully unpredictable, lots of chatting, laughter, and “come look at this!” moments, so variety helps. Choose things that let you enjoy the flow.  3–5 projects are recommend to give yourself options.

Aim for:

  • At least one hand-sewing or low-tech project for social time, evenings, or when you want to wander and chat.

  • A couple of easy, low-decision projects that let you sew happily through interruptions.

  • One project you’re stuck on if you want feedback. Retreats are full of brilliant quilters who love to help troubleshoot.
