Speaker: Christine Barnes
Lecture: Magic Fabrics/Special Effects
Put simply, “magic fabrics” give a quilt light and vitality. Some suggest light coming from below the surface (luminosity) or bouncing across the surface (luster). Others imply that see-through colors overlap to create new color mixtures (transparency). They typically display variations in value—light areas among darker areas, or light-to-dark gradations—and they often contain warm colors. A digital trunk show of fabrics, quilts, and wearables brings the concepts to life.
Format: Hybrid
The July 2025 General meeting will be hybrid, meaning you can attend virtually via Zoom or in-person at the Phinney Center (blue building), room 7. If you register for the in-person meeting, we will still send you the Zoom information (because, hey--life happens).
For our virtual participants: remember to send your photos for sew and tell to hello@seattlemqg.com by 8 pm, Tuesday, July 8th.
