Have you always wanted to try English Paper Piecing (EPP) but didn’t know where to start? Or you've made a few hexie flowers and are ready to use a new shape?

Try a little of everything EPP has to offer in this fun and exploratory beginners class! We’ll cover all the basics of EPP, including fabric selection, basting, stitching. We will explore the world of precut shapes, while designing and stitching your own small EPP block! You can try all of the different thread, needle, and glue options that are available, so when you leave, you’ll know exactly what to stock your EPP kit with! Get your creative juices flowing with this hands on, low stress class.

Supply List:

- Scrap fabrics: Our completed blocks will finish no larger than about 8" square, so your scraps don’t need to be large. Just bring a variety in case inspiration strikes. Charm squares work great or other scraps around that size. Bring extra if you want to try fussy cutting your pieces.

– Fabric scissors

Optional: Magnifier

Note: I will be bringing each person an EPP kit (included in the class fee).

This kit includes: A needle, thread, glue stick, sewing clips, mini thread scissors, and all of the EPP papers you will need.

Afternoon Class:
Curvy Mini Sketches with English Paper Piecing

2 pm - 5 pm - Saturday 9/12

We will focus on how to design using curved EPP and how to sew the flat back stitch with confidence!

Supply List:

– Paper scissors

– Fabric scissors

– Sharp Pencil(s). Mechanical pencil with lead or a regular pencil along with a sharpener.

– Eraser

– Small ruler (something in the 2" x 12" range). We will use it for drawing straight lines.

– EPP Supplies: Needle, thread, glue stick, sewing/Wonder clips, thread snips. (If you don’t have something, I will have a supply library you can borrow from)

– Fabric scraps. Our designs will finish at 6" square, so they don’t need to be large. Just bring a variety in case inspiration strikes. Charm squares work great.

– Phone Camera (or digital camera) to take photos as you work.
