TopicZero Waste Quilting

Zero Waste Quilting returns to the heart of the craft by encouraging mindful consumption, honoring the tradition of using leftover scraps, and embracing the creative power that comes from working within constraints. With limited sustainable options currently available—mostly organic goods or up‑cycled materials—this approach offers a practical path forward by helping quilters use new materials responsibly and ensure every bit of fabric has a purpose. Through intentional buying, thoughtful stash use, strategic augmentation, and waste reduction, students learn to design purposefully, curate meaningful projects, and make every stitch count while bridging the gap between creativity and environmental consciousness.

About our Guest speaker:

From childhood hours spent watching my mom sew to discovering quilting as a teenager, textiles have been the constant thread running through my life. That journey led me to write Piecing Makeover, The Perfect Piecing Pocket Guide, and Zero Waste Quilting, a reflection of my commitment to both craft and sustainability. Fabric has always been home for me, and it continues to shape everything I make.
