by Emily Keller from the Block of the Month committee
For our last block we chose to make the Courthouse Steps block. This traditional block has room for so many improvisational techniques. Have fun with it! As a variation on the log cabin block, your strips are placed around the center square radiating outward like steps. You can make your strips any size you’d like and keep adding until you’ve reached the 12.5” block or you can cut them according to the pattern. For a traditional block we are using a tutorial from Quilts by Jen which will give you a 12.5” unfinished block (12" finished). Next month we will be looking at layout and design options to put our 2022 BOM quilt(s) together. |
