Quilt #7
Quilt Name: Waterfront Park
Maker: Amy Steed

Quilt #8
Quilt Name: Interlocking Squares
Maker: Amy Steed
Artist Statement: Gudrun Erla, the pattern designer, put on a workshop at which she demonstrated how her strip cutting rulers work. It convinced me to purchase them; I find them quite useful in making repeat cuts; I love the precision and accuracy that results. This fabric collection speaks to friends, especially quilting friends, with the words in some of the prints.
Quilt Information: Pattern is "Strip to be Square" by Gudrun Erla, GE Designs. Jackie Heckathorn quilted this; I selected a curvy, swoopy pattern to contrast with the very rectilinear quilt design.
Dimensions: 51 X 73

Quilt #14
Quilt Name: Churn Dash I: Polychrome
Maker: Martha Peterson
Instagram: @onceawingnut
Artist Statement: The workshop instructions said, "bring fabric that you have a hard time cutting up". Well, I brought the really bright rainbow squares fabric you see on the edge of the quilt as the binding. We created a "start" and then passed it to our neighbor who added a bit of their fabric in timed sessions. We worked quickly and the result definitely reflects the bright fabric I brought.

Quilt #17
Quilt Name: Night Stroll
Maker: Beth Ratzlaff
Instagram: @goodlaffgirl
Artist Statement: I started this quilt in an "Inspired by Art" workshop with David Owen Hastings in 2023. Our prompt was to take a piece of art and abstractly interpret it in a quilt. Mine is based off of a painting called "City Girl" by Robin Weiss. My husband and I saw it in a gallery on Alki many years ago and we fell in love with it, but could not afford it at the time. Since it's the "art that got away," I decided to capture it in quilt form.

I had fun with the organic shape of each piece, letting the fabric guide what the shape would be. I hand quilted this piece with big stitch quilting in organic waves to weave it all together.
